With diets in the past, what has often derailed me were the convenience items that were so readily available at just about every fast food place. Back in the day, I really enjoyed me some chicken strips and fries. (more…)
For many years, I have struggled with my weight. I had a baby every two years for 12 years straight and pretty much gained some weight with each one. I have been on all kinds of diets and extreme exercising to try to get the weight off. At one point, I joined a Biggest Loser competition at my local gym and was determined to win. I bought into the idea that if I cut my calories and worked out a lot, I would do well. It started off great. I was losing at a good pace and then my weight loss just stopped. I didn’t know what else to do but exercise more and eat even less. By the end of the competition, I was running 50 miles a week as well as 2 hours of cycling class and eating between 900 to 1200 calories a day. I did win the competition, but it was at a great cost to my body.

Toward the end of 2015, I read my first Jane Austen novel, Pride and Prejudice. I am hesitant to admit that because I am an avid reader. I love reading. I always have. My first memory of reading is actually my first memory ever. I was about four and I thought I knew how to read. I sat down with, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, with my dad and proceeded to “read” it to him. I had the book memorized and he only realized that I wasn’t actually reading it when I said the words that were on a page that we hadn’t turned to yet. (more…)
My name is Cindy Rodgers and to tell you who I am, I’d like to explain the name of my website and blog, Tapestry Of Our Lives. When I first thought of that name, I admit, the song, “Dream Weaver,” came to mind and I pictured some old artisan leaning over their loom, honing their craft. I am not a loomist, which is quite evident by the fact that I’m pretty sure a loomist is not what they are called. I am, however, a great, many things…
